You dare to enter the gate and discover an amazing and enchanted world where fairies live. This is how one guest described the wedding of Angel Becks to Shawn Reed on May 21 at Maitland Art Center. Dragonwood and shepherd’s hooks lined the red carpet aisle and were draped in deep red satin, gold tassels and red mosaic lanterns. A gazebo accented with gloriosa lilies and orchid blossoms. A chandelier spun from gold cymbidiums, white dendrobiums and red roses. It is always wonderful to see how our design skills can be challenged and tested by a client’s ideas. The results? Pretty fabulous, if we say so ourselves! If you would like to see more images, we have them posted to the main site.

Mary Grace Fragano at Belladonna Cakes and Confections never ceases to amaze me with her work. The detail in the cherub faces on this cake from the Becks—Reed wedding on May 21 is astounding. She told me that she wasn’t happy with any molds that she could find commercially—everything was too “this” or too “that”—so she hand-carved her own molds for the faces. This is one vendor that always goes above and beyond to display both her culinary and artistic skills. Suddenly I am having chocolate cravings just thinking about how amazing the Red Velvet cake underneath must have tasted!

Our featured wedding

Wow—our first year in our new location has been nothing short of phenomenal! Now that we are in the summer months of our second year here, I can take a moment to reflect on some of our highlights this past season.

My favorite wedding of all time—and our first featured wedding on this website—was that of my friend Brenda Sanzenbacher, who married Bud Biggin at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort last October, right after Hurricane Wilma. We were a bit nervous about wedding plans proceeding as scheduled, as the power was restored to the resort only a couple of days before the wedding and clean up crews were scurrying to make sure everything was in Disneyesque perfection. It was still very windy the day of the wedding, and we found out later that some of the other vendors and guests were taking bets on which urn of flowers that flanked the aisle entrance would topple first. To all their surprise, neither fell. Whew!

The setting became magical as the ceremony progressed into the evening hours and the guests proceeded into a reception set with one large table and a sea of candlelight and pale blue glass gems that caught the candlelight and echoed the rippling tides of the ocean outside. Brenda looked like a goddess in her chocolate ice cream colored wedding dress. Bud, you’re one lucky dude!

We have more images of this beautiful wedding here.

What's on the table?

Welcome!
